Marxist Science Fiction and Fantasy

I’m on the hunt for marxist media—specifically science fiction and fantasy books and games (and movies?!). Here are some promising links:

Project

I’m working on something to solve the “problem” below, combined with something of a study plan: pshta.jwmhy.xyz.

The USSR and PRC “Problem”

Before I started researching, even—or especially—as an American leftist, I had big problems with the USSR and the PRC. How does a newcomer to the study of this stuff overcome over a hundred years of propaganda?

Choosing a Study Plan

I am between the course mentioned below and Dessalines Marxism Study Plan. Right now, I’m going back and forth to make sure I cover both. But when the time comes to introduce others to this stuff, I need to pick one or the other (or maybe even develop my own course).

Answers to Course Questions

The following are my answers to the questions found in Marxism-Leninism Study Guide: Basic Course (mirrored on this site here).

1. Introduction

Q: Why do you want to study Marxism-Leninism?
A: I’ve always felt that there is something wrong with capitalism, and I’ve always known—at least in a small way, in the very back of my mind—that there’s a rot in the west. These feelings have driven me farther and farther to the political left over the course of my adult life. It has never felt like enough, though.

A few days ago, near the beginning of March 2026, the USA and Israel began bombing Iran. So many dead. So much destruction. For what? Trump had a “gut feeling”. I saw the numbers. I saw the carnage. But it wasn’t until I saw the people coming together to help each other that it really hit me.

We’re the bad guys. We really are an evil empire.

But how can one person fight again so much power? They can’t. But—maybe—if enough people join together in common cause, they can prevail. Maybe Marxism-Leninism is that common cause? Here’s hoping.

Q: How can it be helpful in your present life?
A: That remains to be seen. My hope is that it gives me focus and direction, an outlet for my discontent, and a way to effect change.

Q: Why should we establish a socialist society?
A: For a better world, I hope.

2. Fundamentals

Q: What historical context gave rise to Marxism?
A:

Q: What are the 3 major components of Marxism?
A:

Q: In your country, what does the class makeup of society look like? Which can be aligned with the proletariat? Which cannot?
